September 2016 – The winter crop has now been planted in Freda, Sandylands Nurseries. We’re ready to go!
Well done to everyone who took part in the Go Carting Championships this year. A great time was had by all. Roly was denied the winner’s podium for the first time in a long time by some excellent driving by Mihai. Crossing the line just behind him were Plamen in second and Roly in third.

This year’s GUFC Euro event took place on 16th and 17th July at Evesham United Football stadium. Side Shoots FC reached the last 16, loosing on penalties. All monies raised was donated as always to charity, the recipients being Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Cancer Research UK and Once upon a smile.

Grower’s United Football Club held a Charity Dinner in aid of three different charities; Cancer Research, Birmingham’s Children Hospital and Once Upon a Smile. It took place at the Bank House and Spa Hotel, Worcester on Saturday 18th March and about 300 people representing different businesses attended. Over £20,000 was raised! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening for a very worthwhile cause!

The first pickings of our Summer cocktail variety has started in Fred, Sandylands Nurseries. About two or three weeks earlier than last year! 22nd February 2016.
On 12th January, we had Country File again to film. This time, they have come to view LED lights plus Winter production at Sandylands! Roly’s feature appeared on Country File 24th January about 40-45 minutes in to the programme.

To start this new year off, on Sunday 3rd January Roly took part in a 5.5 mile off-road race along the banks of the river Avon through Fladbury village. The run is organised by Friends of Fladbury Community group and this year the profits will be split between Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign and the Friends of Fladbury funds which supports community projects and groups in Fladbury. Despite the miserable weather Roly came in the mid teens.

The plants are all in Fred now waiting for fruit production in March. Winter production in Freda of large and cherry-on-the vine and other trial varieties looking good. Photos to follow!

In June (2015), the chef Brian Turner came over to do some filming for his series ‘My Life on a Plate’. Roly can be seen talking to Brian Turner at Sandylands Nurseries in the programme looking at Alistair McGowan’s life in the Vale of Evesham. The part of the series R & L Holt feature in was shown on BBC 1 Tuesday 10th November.
